The BMW E36 320i was a proven force in late-1990s touring car racing, and its appearance in the 1999 Italian Superturismo Championship continued that legacy.

Driven by Fabrizio De Simone, the #3 Castrol-liveried car combined BMW’s well-balanced chassis with the high-revving Super Touring-spec 2.0-litre engine, making it a competitive contender in one of Europe’s most closely fought national series.

The bold blue, red, and green colours became a familiar sight that season and remain one of the most recognisable BMW racing liveries of the era.
