Product Info.

This car is basically a Toyota 85C, built by Tom's, the turbocharched inline 4 engine was removed and a 3.3L Ford DFL V8 installed. Initially it was renamed as a JTK 62C although in 1989 it was re-named and modified again to resemble a Toyota 88C and called the British Barn BB89R. The engine was swapped out for the 3.5L Ford DFZ V8 which meant it was compatible with the 3.5L formula regulations in Europe. It was also now a C1 car, where it had been a C2 in it's time as a JTK

What's so amusing about it is this car only ever competed in Japan, it was designed in Japan, converted into it's various modified forms in Japan and had an American V8 in the back... but it's called the British Barn Car...

A name commonly associated with driving the car is Jirou Yoneyama, who allegedly may be the team owner. Supposedly near the end of it's life Hugh Chamberlin got involved in it, or it was entered under the Chamberlin Engineering banner.

As far as success goes, the chassis (including it's time as a JTK, being run by the same people) has 3 x 8th place finishes, it's best result, seemingly. And because it's got the Ford DFL, it technically counts as one of Bernie Ecclestone's 3.5L formula cars and is therefore one of the only C1 cars to be converted into a 3.5L formula car.
