Wednesday Night Slot Car Racing 15/2/2012

Race Night 1  15th Feb 2012

Scroll down to Race Night 1 for more info...

1/32 Scale Slot Car Racing Started at Slot Shop (originally on every second Saturday night) back in mid 2004 with the same race (Race Night 1) every two weeks.
As the guys and girls collections expanded everyone requested more classes, which is why we now have 8 consecutive race nights with generally 3 classes per night. The racing season is generally every week from mid January to mid December.
All our classes are non magnet, this allows different brands of the same class of slot car to compete on more equal terms, offers a much more realistic scale speed and minimises car damage... To the extent that some of us are racing cars over 4 years old.
To make the non magnet driving experience easier we generally lower the track voltage to 10 volts instead of the usual 12- 13.8 volts used for magnet traction slot cars.
Some racers prefer to only have a few slot cars to compete on selected race nights, but more often than not end up racing most race nights.
We aim to start racing at 7pm, pizza/meal orders should be placed by 6pm
Racing Fees:

  • Race: $10 per person (effective from Jan 21st 2009)
  • Race Controller Hire: $10 per person per evening (effective from Jan 21st 2009)
Please note, most racers have invested in their own controller, cars & tools for their own enjoyment. Please do not ask to borrow their slot cars, controllers or tools.
Please ensure your slot cars are race ready before 5 pm on the race night as we won't be offering repairs or tuning after 5pm on race nights.
We are happy to offer tuning and repair services by prior arrangement at our current hourly rates. Please note, this does not imply your car will be a race winner as we encourage you to test and tune to get the most out of your slot cars.
Where a minimum lap time cut is applied to any of the classes, the onus is on the driver to run his/her car lap speed above the minimum lap time, otherwise any laps faster will not count.

Check with us to ensure your specific slot cars are eligible to race on any given night.

From time to time Slot Shop will revise the rules to ensure  the racing remains as close as possible.
